Downloading AnswerQuest

  1. Before downloading the software below, you should carefully read the Terms and Conditions. Downloading the software below indicates your acceptance of the Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to the terms of this agreement, do not download the software.

  2. Click on the link below to download the software. The download is approx. 5 MB in size but you will need approx. 10 MB free space on your hard disk to complete the installation. AnswerQuest will run on Windows'95, Windows'98 and Win 3.x.
    The download will take between 20 and 30 minutes on an average (33.6 kbps) modem.
    Alternatively you can order your software on a CD via the mail order form.

  3. When prompted, select 'Save this program to disk', click on'OK' and select the folder name (directory) on your PC where you want the file copied to.
    It is advisable to create a new temporary folder specifically for this, to make it easier to clean up after installation.

    A single file will then be copied to your PC. Should this fail for any reason just try again.
    NOTE : if you are using Internet Explorer 5 or 6 then take note of the original file name; due to bugs in IE5 and IE6 you may need to rename the copied file back to its original name after it has been copied to your PC.

Installation

Installation is the same for all versions of AnswerQuest :
  1. When the copying has finished, double-click the new file on your PC . This will create several other files.

  2. Double-click (execute) the file called setup.exe. This will start the Installation Wizard which will guide you through the rest of the installation.

  3. After successful installation you can delete the file that was downloaded plus all files that were created during step 1.

  4. After this installation you will have a working copy of AnswerQuest Lite.

  5. To activate the features of the other products you will need to enter a license key. To obtain your license key you will need to contact us to tell us your site code, which is the number shown on the first screen (it looks like aa-bb-cc-dd). Don't forget to let us know how we can contact you to tell you what your license key is, especially if this is different from your contact details on the order form.

  6. When we receive your payment we use your site code to generate your personal license key which is used to turn your existing software into the full product that you ordered. There is no need to download again, all you need to do is enter the license key once on one of the screens and then the software automatically reconfigures itself into the full product.

Homework files

These can be used as examples of the types of homework that can be set. The Lite product can also use homework files.

The files need to be copied to the folder designated by AnswerQuest for these types of files (as shown on the 'Change Defaults' screen). You can copy them directly to that folder. Next, start AnswerQuest, select 'Do Homework' and open the appropriate homework file (*.aqh).

The answers are given in the answers file.

For all these use user = demo (no password required). All these will take less than 1 second to download.

Exercises: (requires AnswerQuest Home or better)

These files need to be copied to the folder designated by AnswerQuest for these types of files (as shown on the 'Change Defaults' screen). So, start AnswerQuest, login as the Admin user, select 'Exercise -> Import' and open the new exercise file (*.aqt).

To 'do' the new exercise you then need to log on as a Year 1 Pupil, select 'Exercise -> Do Exercise' and the new Exercise should show up in the list. The results can be viewed by logging on as a Year 1 Teacher (or as the Admin user for the Home version) and selecting 'Pupil -> Review Results'
