I have AnswerQuest Home but I can't find
any exercises or tests I have paid for AnswerQuest Home but
the software that I downloaded only lets me do 'Practice' mode. Why is
this ? The sound effects distract the other pupils
in my class. How do I turn off the sound ? My PC broke down and I had to have a new
hard disk installed. I have now reloaded AnswerQuest but it won't accept
my License Key anymore. Is there something else that I forgot to do ?
Where are all these tests ?
It only lets me do Practice mode, why ?
How do I switch off the sounds ?
Why is my license no longer accepted ?

This is normal, it does not ship with any ready-made tests. AnswerQuest
is a bit like a word processor : you use it to create letters (tests)
but it doesn't come with any letters itself. You either need to create
tests yourself with AnswerQuest or import them from somewhere else (either
as a 'test' or as 'homework'). If you create algebra tests ('sums')
then the system will do most of the work for you, as it creates both the
questions and the answers. With the other types you will have type in the
questions and answers yourself, which means that you have COMPLETE freedom
w.r.t. the subject and the complexity of the tests. Anything that you
can describe with words can be made into a test (geography, history,
languages, physics, spelling, chemistry, psychology, biology, the list
is endless !). There are also some tests and homework that you can download
from our Free Stuff page. Back to Top
Until you enter a License Key, all versions of AnswerQuest will behave
like AnswerQuest Lite (the free version). When you enter your License
Key the software will reconfigure itself automatically into the
particular version that you bought. You don't even have to download any
new software as all versions are already contained within the software
that you already have. All you need to do next is to contact us with your Site Code (displayed on the
first AnswerQuest screen and looks like aa-bb-cc-dd). We will then supply
you with a new License Key that will unlock the features that you are
looking for. Back to Top
The answer depends on your type of PC. If the speakers are built into
your monitor then there should be a 'MUTE' button and/or a 'VOLUME'
control on your monitor as well that you can use. If the speakers are
separate from your monitor then there should be an 'ON/OFF' button on
one of them. If not, then you could just pull out the wire that
connects the speakers to the back of your PC (carefully!) or turn the
volume right down with the volume button on your soundcard (right next
to where the speaker wire connects into the back of your PC). Last but
not least all PCs with sound will have a headphone socket. If you plug
some headphones into this then the main speakers will be disabled; of
course the pupil will still be able to hear the sounds via the
headphones (if desired). Back to Top
Because you had your hard disk replaced AnswerQuest thinks that it
is running on a different PC altogether so it wants a new License Key
for it. You need to contact us
for some further details that will enable us to reset your license key.
If you have a backup copy of your old AnswerQuest database then we
should be able to point AnswerQuest at this database so you will not
have lost any of the data in it. Back to Top
